Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 2.7 mL Blood in a Blue Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 2.7 mL.
Tubes must be full.
Transport: If sample is spun, and plasma is aliquoted and frozen it must be transported on dry ice. If aliquoted but not frozen it must be transported at refrigerated temperature. If whole blood is sent it may be transported at ambient or refrigerated temperature.
Handling: Pediatric volume: 2.7 mL.
Unacceptable conditions: QNS; Overfilled; Clotted

 

Notes: 

Reflex Criteria: Abnormal results reflex to MD interpretation.

Clinical Indications: Consider for patients with fibrinolytic type bleeding disorders. Levels also decreased in patients receiving fibrinolytic therapy.
