Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 2.0 mL Blood in a Gold Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 0.5 mL.

 

Notes: 

Reflex Criteria: A positive T. pallidum antibody screening test reflexes to an RPR titer. If RPR is negative, a second T. pallidum antibody test, TP-PA, is performed to confirm the accuracy of the initial screening test.

The reverse algorithm starts with a T. pallidum specific antibody test. If positive, the RPR test is done to determine disease activity.
