Collection: 2.0 mL Blood in a Gold Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 1.0 mL.

 

Notes: 

A positive IgM usually indicates current or recent infection with WNV. However, false positives occur. In addition, cross-reactivity has been seen with enteroviruses in serum samples from children. Negative antibody results can be seen early in illness. Seroconversion of WNV IgG confirms recent infection.
