Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 10.0 ml Blood in a Red Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 4 ml.
Handling: Send unopened collection tube. Sterile processing required.
Unacceptable conditions: Samples drawn in a Gel Barrier tube, grossly hemolyzed specimens and specimens that have been exposed to air.
Stability: After separation from cells: Refrigerated: 5 Days; Frozen: 2 Weeks

 

Notes: 

Clinical Indications: This test for soluble galactomannan antigen in serum is a serological method used to aid in the diagnosis of Invasive Aspergillosis in neutropenic patients (following anti-cancer treatment) and in patients treated with immunosuppressants.
