Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 1.0 swab Gen-Probe/Hologic Aptima Collection Kit or Aptima Unisex swab acceptable.
Urine is to be collected in the Aptima Urine Collection Kit or sterile container,
Genital sources should be collected with the Aptima Unisex Swab Collection Kit.
Acceptable sources: Urine, Genital, Throat, Rectal

Transport: Urine sample not in Aptima collection kit must be received within 24 hours.

 

Unacceptable conditions: Specimen collected with either the white cleansing swab or non-Aptima swab and urines Aptima collection tubes filled ABOVE the fill line.

 

Notes: 

For Genital Collection: 2 swabs are included. The white swab is a cleansing swab and should NOT be included in the tube with the blue sample swab. Test has been validated for Throat and Rectal swabs.

Positive results for patients age 13 and under are reflexed to an alternate target assay for confirmation
