Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 5.0 mL Blood in a Gold Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 1 mL.
Stability: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 6 months (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)



Reflex Criteria: All Borderline and Positive Samples will reflex to a dsDNA by Crithidia for confirmation at an additional charge. This confirmatory assay is performed using Indirect Fluorescent Antibody methodology.

Clinical Indications: dsDNA antibodies are found in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Sjögren syndrome, mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD), and in progressive systemic sclerosis (PSS). High titers of antibody to native (double stranded) DNA are more specific for SLE.

dsDNA by IFA confirmation + 1 day after ELISA result is reported.
