Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 2.7 mL Blood in a Blue Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 2.7 mL.
One (1) blue top tube is required for this test.
Transport: Whole blood may be transported at ambient or refrigerated temperature. Separated plasma, not yet frozen, may be transported at refrigerated temperature, while frozen plasma should be sent on dry ice to prevent thawing in transit.
Unacceptable conditions: QNS; Overfilled; Clotted

 

Notes: 

Reflex Criteria: INHIB test auto reflex to corresponding factor assay level. All results reflex to an MD interpretation.

Clinical Indications: In known hemophilia As, screening for FVIII inhibititor; also for the investigation of a spontaneous bleeding episode.

If known, the inhibitor type should be specified. The appropriate factor level will be performed and if that level is >5% over the patient's baseline factor level, the inhibitor titer will be canceled. If combine with FVIII activity, collect 2 blue top tubes.
