Collection: 1.0 mL Fluid in a Sterile Container or

                  1.0 ml Fluid on a Lithium Heparin tube.
Pediatric volume: 0.3 mL.

Peritoneal:

Lipase may be a useful marker for presence of panreatic fluid in the peritoneal cavity when present in very high concentrations (up to thousands of units per milliliter) and at least several-fold times higher than simultaneous values in serum

Surgical Drain:

Caution is advised when intepreting lipase values but elevations greater than several-fold higher than blood are suggestive of pancreatic fluid present in the drained body cavity
