Reported: 

1 hour, 30 minutes for STAT orders; 2 hours, 30 minutes for Routine orders

Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 2.7 mL Blood in a Blue Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 2.7 mL.
Transport: Whole blood may be transported at ambient or refrigerated temperature. Separated plasma, not yet frozen, may be transported at refrigerated temperature, while frozen plasma should be sent on dry ice to prevent thawing in transit.
Unacceptable conditions: QNS; Overfilled; clotted
Stability: For PTINR, 12 hours from time of collection and for PTT, preferred specimen within 4 hours of collection

 

Notes: 

Clinical Indications: Refer to separate test descriptions for PT/INR and for PTT.

May be combined with Fibrinogen and d-dimer testing from the same tube
