Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 1.0 mL Cerebrospinal Fluid in a CSF Tube.
CSF Tube 4 also acceptable.
Pediatric volume: 0.5 mL

 

Notes: 

A positive IgM usually indicates current or recent infection with WNV. Cross-reactivity has been seen with enteroviruses, CMV, HSV and other pathogens. Negative antibody results can be seen early in illness.
