Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 5.0 mL Blood in a Gold Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 1.0 mL.
Unacceptable conditions: Grossly hemolyzed specimens.
Stability: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 6 months (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)

 

Notes: 

Clinical Indications: Antibodies to ENAs are common in patients with connective tissue diseases (systemic rheumatic diseases) including LE, MCTD, Sjogren's syndrome, scleroderma (systemic sclerosis), and polymyositis/dermatomyositis.
