Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 5.0 mL Blood in a Gold Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 1.0 mL.
Unacceptable conditions: Grossly hemolyzed specimens
Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 3 months

 

Notes: 

Clinical Indications: The presence of IgA antibodies against F-Actin in patients having positive serologic markers for celiac disease, such as anti-tissue transglutaminase, and/or anti-deaminated gliadin peptide IgA, often indicates the presence of intestinal villus atrophy. Positive results should be generally confirmed with biopsy.
