Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 5.0 mL Blood in a Gold Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 1.0 mL.
Unacceptable conditions: Grossly hemolyzed specimens
Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 3 months

 

Notes: 

Reflex Criteria: If F-Actin is >20 Units, then Smooth Muscle Ab, IgG IFA titer will be added at an additional charge and the test is performed at Mayo Medical Laboratories.

Clinical Indications: The presence of Actin IgG antibodies can be used in conjunction with clinical findings and other laboratory tests to aid in the diagnosis of autoimmune liver diseases such as autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) and primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC).
