Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 2.0 mL Blood in a Gold Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 0.5 mL.

 

Notes: 

Clinical Indications: To determine immune status. Submit acute and convalescent sera to detect seroconversion

IgG antibody indicates vaccination or past infection. If clinical symptoms and/or exposure history suggests acute rubella, request IgM antibody. Acute rubella is seen predominantly in immigrants from countries where vaccination is not required.
