Clinical Indications: Both gliadin IgA and IgG antibodies are detected in patients with Celiac disease or gluten sensitive enteropathy. Gliadin IgG antibodies seem more sensitive but are less specific markers for disease compared to IgA antibodies. Gliadin IgA antibodies are less sensitive but more specific. Although the IgA isotype of these antibodies usually predominates in celiac disease, individuals may also produce IgG isotypes, particularly if the individual is IgA deficient.
