Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 2.7 mL Blood in a Blue Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 2.7 mL.
Handling: Tubes must be full.
Unacceptable conditions: Serum, clotted; QNS; Overfilled

 

Notes: 

Reflex Criteria: 1. Factor VIII Chromogenic assay will be added as a reflexive only for NEW patients with clot-based Factor VIII Activity of less than 50 percent.

Clinical Indications: When needed to demonstrate a Factor VIII level using an assay unaffected by the presence of lupus anticoagulant or other cross-reacting inhibitor.
