Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 5.0 mL Blood in a Gold Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 1.0 mL.
Unacceptable conditions: Grossly hemolyzed specimens.
Stability: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 6 months (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)

 

Notes: 

Clinical Indications: Presence of Jo-1 antibody is found in patients with polymyositis, dermatomyositis, or myositis associated with another rheumatic disease or with interstitial lung disease. A negative test for Jo-1 antibodies does not exclude these diseases.

Reference Intervals: 
<20 Units = Negative 
 20-39 Units = Weak Positive 
 40-80 Units = Moderate Positive 
 >80 Units = Strong Positive
