Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 5.0 mL Blood in a Gold Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 1.0 mL.
Unacceptable conditions: Grossly hemolyzed specimens.
Stability: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 7 days; Frozen: 6 months (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)

 

Notes: 

Clinical Indications: A positive result for CCP antibodies indicates a high likelihood of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). CCP antibodies are present in about 69-83% of patients with RA with specificities of 93-95 %. These autoantibodies may be present in the preclinical phase of disease, are associated with future RA development, and may predict radiographic joint destruction.

     <20 Units = Negative
     20-39 Units = Weak Positive
     40-59 Units = Moderate Positive
     => 60 Units = Strongly Positive
