Flow Cytometry




3 days for routine orders

Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 3.0 ml Fluid in a Lavender Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 1 ml.
Submit in sterile container in RPMI or EDTA Do not spin.
Transport: transport to Lab ASAP, room temp or refrigerated.
Handling: Suitability of specimen will depend on nucleated cell count and viability. Some specimens may be cancelled due to inadequate cellularity and/or poor viability.
Unacceptable conditions: Tissue in formalin, spun fluids
Stability: 48 hours in RPMI or EDTA,  ambient or refrigerated



Clinical Indications: Concern for Lymphoma or other hematological malignancy

Fluid specimens submitted for Flow Cytometry should have a cell count ordered within 24 hours. Suitable specimens for this assay include but are not limited to: CSF, Pleural, Peritoneal, lymph node tissue, biopsy, FNA.
