Specimen Requirements:  Collection: 3.0 mL Blood in a Gold Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 1 mL.
Handling: Acute and convalescent specimens must be labeled as such; parallel testing is preferred and convalescent specimens must be received within 30 days from receipt of the acute specimens. Please mark specimen plainly as "acute" or "convalescent.".
Unacceptable conditions: CSF. Contaminated, heat-inactivated, hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens.
Stability: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)

Notes: 

Clinical Indications: Detects presence of IgG antibodies to T. solium in serum when a clinical suspicion of cysticercosis exists.
