Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 6.0 mL Blood in a Lavender Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 4 mL.
Lavender Top EDTA Tube
Handling: Draw in pre-chilled Special Tube; Keep chilled at all times.
Centrifuge immediately. Separate plasma and freeze immediately. Do not thaw.
Stability: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 6 hours; Frozen: 6 months (-20c)

 

Notes: 

Clinical Indications: Elevated platelets may cause elevated results.
