Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 3.0 mL Blood in a Lavender Top Tube, protected from light, frozen immediately.
Pediatric volume: 1 mL.
Green (sodium or lithium heparin), lavender (EDTA), plasma separator tube, or pink (K2 EDTA).
Transport: Frozen.
Unacceptable conditions: Hemolyzed specimens or specimens other than heparin or EDTA plasma.
Stability: After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 48 hours; Frozen at -20C: 1 months
