Clinical Indications: The presence of a chylous effusion, which results from lymphatic drainage into a body cavity, can be determined by identifying triglycerides and chylomicrons in the fluid. Catheter-related iatrogenic effusions can be identified by determining the presence of intravenous solution constituents in the fluid.
