Collection: 3.0 mL Blood in a Red Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 1 mL.
Transport: Frozen.
Handling: Overnight fasting is preferred. Do not submit specimens that have been heat-treated. Do not submit the sample in a glass tube.
Unacceptable conditions: Received room temperature • Received refrigerated • Hemolysis • Lipemia • Heat treated • Specimens containing visible particular matter
Stability: Room temperature: 4 hours Refrigerated: 4 hours Frozen: 21 days

 

Notes: 

Clinical Indications: The deficiency of Mannose-Binding Lectin (MBL) can be used to aid in the determination of susceptibility to infection in conjunction with clinical findings and other laboratory tests.
