Notes: 

Reflex Criteria: If Hu Antibody Screen, IFA is positive, Hu Antibody, WB will be performed at an additional charge (CPT code(s): 84181). If Hu Antibody, WB is positive, Hu Antibody Titer will be performed at an additional charge (CPT code(s): 86256).

Clinical Indications: Paraneoplastic Syndrome involves non-metastatic systemic effects that accompany malignant disease. Antineuronal Nuclear Antibody (Anti-Hu) is found in 5-10% of patients with small cell carcinoma of the lung. Anti-Hu is associated with subacute syndrome of encephalomyeloradiculopathy, sensory neuropathy, and autoimmune neuropathy, predominantly affecting the gastrointestinal tract.
