Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 3.0 mL Blood in a Gold Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 1 mL.
Serum separator tube, plain red, or green (lithium heparin).
Transport: CRITICAL FROZEN. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered. Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP.
Unacceptable conditions: Heat-inactivated, refrigerated or contaminated specimens.
Stability: After separation from cells: Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: 1 year

 

Notes: 

Clinical Indications: Use for research purposes or in attempts to understand the pathophysiology of immune, infectious, or inflammatory disorders.
