Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 3.0 mL Blood in a Red Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 1 mL.
Plain red. Also acceptable: Lavender (K2 or K3EDTA) or pink (K2EDTA).
Transport: Refrigerated.
Handling: Timing of specimen collection: Pre-dose (trough) draw - At steady-state concentration.
Unacceptable conditions: Whole blood. Gel separator tubes, light blue (citrate), or yellow (SPS or ACD solution).
Stability: Ambient: 5 days, Refrigerated: 2 weeks, Frozen: 6 months
