Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS)

Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 10.0 mL Urine in a Urine Container.
Pediatric volume: 2 mL.
Plastic, 13-mL urine tube or a clean, plastic aliquot container with no metal cap or glued insert; No preservative; 24 hour volume is required.
Patient should not eat seafood for a 48-hour period prior to start of collection.
Transport: Refrigerated.
Handling: Use PLAIN PLASTIC 24 hour bottle. No Metal caps or glued inserts.
Stability: Refrigerated (preferred): 7 days; Frozen: 7 days
On Floor Storage: * Keep refrigerated during collection*



Includes Arsenic, Cadmium, Lead, Mercury. High concentrations of gadolinium and iodine are known to interfere with most metals tests. If either gadolinium-or iodine-containing contrast media has been administered, a specimen should not be collected for 96 hours.
