Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 6.0 mL Blood in a Lavender Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 2 mL.
Transport: Refrigerated.
Unacceptable conditions: Frozen specimens. Clotted or grossly hemolyzed specimens.
Stability: Ambient: 24 hours; Refrigerated: 5 days; Frozen: Unacceptable

 

Notes: 

Clinical Indications: May be useful in prognosis. Results must be interpreted in context of morphologic and other relevant data. Should not be used alone for diagnosis of malignancy. Negative result does not preclude the presence of NPM1 mutations in rare AML cells below the detection limit of this test.
