Collection: 3.0 mL Blood in a Red Top Tube.

Acceptable: Gold Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 1 mL.
Please label each specimen tube with two forms of patient identification. These forms of identification must also appear on the requisition form.
Transport: Refrigerated (cold packs).
Stability: Room temperature: 72 hours Refrigerated: 14 days Frozen: 6 months

 

Notes: 

Clinical Indications: Tysabri(R) (natalizumab) is a monoclonal antibody therapy used to treat multiple sclerosis (MS), a serious autoimmune disease that results in damage to the brain and spinal cord. Patients being treated with Tysabri can develop Tysabri-specific antibodies that may block the therapeutic effect of the treatment.
