Specimen Requirements: 

Collection: 5.0 mL Blood in a Lavender Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 1 mL.
Whole blood, Lavender top (EDTA) or yellow top (ACD)
Transport: Ship ambient, Mon-Thurs by 12 noon.
Handling: Specimen must arrive within 96 hours of collection.
Unacceptable conditions: No specimen should be rejected. If specimen is received in wrong anticoagulant or at an inappropriate temperature, include note to laboratory. If questions, contact laboratory.

 

Notes: 

Clinical Indications: Preferred molecular analysis to confirm a diagnosis of short-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency (as a follow-up to the biochemical analyses only)
