Specimen Requirements:  Collection: 4.0 mL Blood in a Red Top Tube.
Pediatric volume: 2 mL.
Red top tube only, no gel barrier.

Unacceptable conditions: Moderate to gross hemolysis • Lipemia • Received room temperature • Serum Separator Tube (SST®) • Animal specimen
Stability: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 7 days; Frozen: 2 years


Clinical Indications: Much of Estradiol is bound to proteins. The unbound portion and Estradiol bound to proteins with low affinity reflect the Free concentration. The Free Estradiol may better correlate with medical conditions than the Total Estradiol concentrations.
